TCAA MANAGEMENT INSPECTS PROGRESS OF CIVIL AVIATION TRAINING CENTRE BUILDING PROJECT

The management of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), led by Director General Dr. Jabiri K. Bakari, visited and inspected the progress of the Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC) Building Project located in Dar es Salaam on May 30, 2026.

The purpose of the visit was to assess the implementation progress of the strategic project, which is expected to contribute significantly to the development of Tanzania’s aviation sector. The visit also formed part of the Authority’s efforts to closely monitor the implementation of major government projects.

Speaking during the inspection at the project site in Banana, Dar es Salaam, Dr. Bakari said that TCAA management continues to closely supervise the project to ensure its timely completion, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with professional and international requirements.

He noted that the completion of the project will play a crucial role in developing a highly skilled aviation workforce while reducing the country’s dependence on overseas training opportunities.

The three year project is being implemented by CRJE, a construction company from China.

“This project is of great importance to the development of the aviation sector in Tanzania. Make sure that its implementation adheres to high quality standards, timelines, and international benchmarks,” said Dr. Bakari.

TCAA Project Manager Eng. Stephen Mwakasasa stated that construction works are progressing according to the approved designs and plans, with close supervision being maintained to ensure the project is completed on schedule and to the required quality standards.

The visit also provided TCAA management with an opportunity to receive updates on the project’s implementation progress, existing challenges, and strategies aimed at enhancing execution through to completion.

Upon completion, the Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC) Building Project is expected to strengthen the country’s capacity to provide professional aviation training and serve as a key driver of growth in Tanzania’s aviation sector in line with international standards.
