CATC HONORED FOR EXCELLENCE IN AVIATION SECURITY TRAINING, PLAQUE HANDED TO TCAA BOARD

The Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC), under the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), has been recognized among the top aviation training institutions in Africa for its exceptional performance in aviation security training during the year 2024.

CATC ranked among the top three institutions in the Eastern and Southern Africa (ESAF) region and placed within the top nine across the African continent. The recognition was awarded under the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) framework, acknowledging institutions that demonstrate excellence in aviation security capacity building.

On May 19, 2025, a special event was held at TCAA headquarters to celebrate the achievement. During the ceremony, the Director General of TCAA, Mr. Salim Msangi, handed over the plaque to the TCAA Board Chairperson, Dr. Hamis Mwinyimvua, as a symbol of institutional pride and collective success.

The moment reflected the admiration and appreciation shared by TCAA leadership for CATC’s performance, which continues to position Tanzania as a key player in aviation training across the region.

CATC’s growing reputation comes as the Centre prepares to break ground on a new TZS 78 billion training facility, set to begin construction in June 2025. The planned state-of-the-art campus is part of TCAA’s strategic vision to transform CATC into a Centre of Excellence, offering world-class training across various disciplines in aviation safety, security, air navigation, and regulatory oversight.

This recent recognition further affirms CATC’s role in advancing aviation standards not only in Tanzania but also across Africa, contributing to safer and more secure skies.
