TCAA CHAMPIONS AFRICA’S AIR TRANSPORT GROWTH AT ACI AFRICA CONFERENCE IN ARUSHA

Arusha, Tanzania — April 28, 2025

The Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) reaffirmed its leadership in Africa’s aviation sector during a high-level panel session at the 73rd ACI Africa Regional Conference and Exhibition held in Arusha. The session, titled “Clearing the Runway – Overcoming Challenges to Build a Thriving Air Transport Industry in Africa,” brought together top aviation experts to address critical challenges facing the continent’s air transport sector.

TCAA Director General Mr. Salim Ramadhani Msangi played a key role in the panel, offering valuable insights on Tanzania’s progressive regulatory reforms, infrastructure development, and adoption of modern aviation technologies. His contributions underscored Tanzania’s commitment to safety, innovation, and regional connectivity as pillars of sustainable aviation growth.

They also discussed the various challenges faced by airports and airlines, which can hinder compliance with national laws and international regulations. Various proposals were made to tackle these issues and ensure that air travel is strengthened both domestically and internationally, in compliance with international regulations.

The session was moderated by Capt. Gilbert M. Kibe, Managing Director of Air Transport Consulting Ltd., and featured other distinguished panelists:

 • Mr. Abderahmane Berthe, Secretary General, African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC)

 • Mr. Emanuel Chaves, President, Airports Council International - ACI Africa

 • Mr. Jorge Benchimol Duarte, CEO, Cabo Verde Airports

 • Mr. Nana Soetantri, Senior Transport Specialist, Global Transport Unit, The World Bank

Mr. Msangi emphasized that TCAA continues to spearhead strategic initiatives to modernize Tanzania’s air navigation services, streamline regulatory frameworks, and facilitate private sector investment—all aimed at positioning the country as a regional aviation hub.

The session concluded with a collective call for collaboration among African states, international organizations, and private sector stakeholders to unlock the full potential of the continent’s air transport industry. TCAA’s participation demonstrated Tanzania’s readiness to lead that transformation through proactive policy, regional cooperation, and commitment to excellence.
