DG TCAA PRESIDED THE OPENING OF ICAO AVSEC INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION COURSE AT CATC

The Director General of Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), Mr. Salim Msangi, has officially opened the ICAO AVSEC Instructors Certification Course hosted by Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC) in Dar es Salaam.


The course has drawn 20 participants from 14

countries, including Tanzania, Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, Uganda, Zambia, Tunisia, Somalia, Seychelles, Kenya, Botswana, Eswatini, Sierra Leone, Qatar, and Iran.


In his opening remarks, Mr. Msangi emphasized the importance of developing a strong network of qualified aviation security instructors. “This training supports ICAO’s global efforts to ensure aviation security personnel are professionally trained and certified to meet international standards,” he said.


CATC Principal, Mr. Aristid Kanje, noted that the course equips instructors with knowledge, skills and attitude to deliver aviation security training  internationally. He added that CATC was recently awarded a plaque for Outstanding Performance in conducting aviation security training in the Eastern and Southern Africa (ESAF) region for the year 2024, ranking among the top 3 institutions in the region and 9 institutions across Africa.

“We continue to build competent professionals who will strengthen aviation safety and security worldwide,” he said.


The course is a strategic step toward enhancing global aviation security and expanding professional training capacity in Africa and beyond.
