TCAA DIRECTOR GENERAL VISITS TANZANIA CIVIL AVIATION TRAINING CENTRE (CATC)

The Director General of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), Dr. Jabiri K. Bakari,  on June 23, 2026 have visited to the Tanzania Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC) located at the Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) Terminal One, with the aim of gaining first hand insight into the institution’s training activities and ongoing development initiatives.

During the visit, Dr. Bakari held a working session with the CATC management team led by the Principal, Mr. Aristid Kanje, who provided an overview of the institution’s academic programmes, operational activities, and ongoing development initiatives. He also visited key facilities within the centre, including administrative offices, classrooms, the library, and the air traffic control training (ATC) simulator used to equip students with practical skills and competencies that meet international aviation standards.

Following the visit, Dr. Bakari had an opportunity to address the CATC staff, where he commended their commitment and efforts in training highly skilled aviation professionals capable of meeting both national and international labour market demands. He encouraged them to continue fostering innovation in teaching, embracing emerging technologies.

On their part, the CATC management assured the Director General of their continued commitment to maintaining the quality of training offered by the institution and strengthening collaboration with aviation stakeholders to ensure graduates are well prepared to meet current and future industry demands.

The Tanzania Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC), a training institution owned by TCAA, and is an ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Full Member and one of the nine institutions in Africa and 35 worldwide accredited to offer Aviation Security Training Centre (ASTC) courses.
