The Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) has convened a national team of aviation experts to begin preparations for the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP) audit, which Tanzania is officially scheduled to undergo in April 2027. The team, comprising representatives from TCAA, aviation operators and other key government institutions, held its inaugural meeting on 1 July, 2026 at the TCAA Headquarters, Ukonga -Banana area, Dar es Salaam.
Opening the meeting, the Director General Dr. Jabiri K.Bakari emphasized that the preparations are a shared national responsibility, calling on all stakeholders to work in unity and maintain close coordination throughout the process. He said the team’s collective commitment will be vital in strengthening Tanzania’s aviation safety oversight system ahead of the audit.
The Director General also noted that the meeting coincided with the commencement of the implementation of Tanzania’s Vision 2050, observing that the aviation sector has a significant role to play in supporting the country’s long-term development aspirations by maintaining high standards of aviation safety and oversight.
He urged members of the expert team to remain focused, accountable and committed to the assignment, stressing that effective teamwork and timely implementation of agreed actions will be key to ensuring Tanzania is well prepared for the upcoming ICAO audit.
