TANZANIA PARTICIPATES TO CHINA BELT & ROAD INITIATIVE FORUM

Tanzania was among the number of countries that attended the second Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) for International Corporation held in Beijing China from 26 to 27, April 2019.

The government of United Republic of Tanzania, was represented by Minister for Works, Transport and Communication, Eng. Isack A. Kamwelwe(MP) accompanied by the Director General Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority(TCAA), Mr. Hamza S. Johari,  ATCL MD & CEO Eng.  Ladislaus Matindi, Tanzania Ambassador in China. Amb. Mbelwa Kairuki.

Others are TCAA Ag. Director Ecomonic Regulation, Daniel Malanga and Mr. Msuya from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation. The Former President Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, also attended the meeting as a special invited delegate by the host.

BRI is a development strategy adopted by Chinese government involving infrastructure development and investments in various countries and international organizations in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Latin America and Africa.

The Belt refers to the overland routes for road and rail transport, called the Silk Road and road Economic Belt, whereas road refers to the sea routes or the 21-century maritime Silk Road.  The initiative was launched in 2013.
