TANZANIA TO  RECEIVE ICAO COUNCIL PRESIDENTIAL AWARD FOR OUTSTADING PERFOMANCE

Tanzania is among the eight countries which have been recognised to receive the international Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) - Council Presidential award for outstanding performance of the Universal Safety Oversight Audits Programme USOAP took place in 2017, whereby the country performance raised from 37.8 percent of 2013 audit to 64.35 percent.

 

The certificate of recognition was issued on 10 October 2018, by the ICAO Council President, Dr. Olumuyiwa  Benard Aliu to Director of Safety Regulation, TCAA, Redemptus Bugomola, who is representing Director General TCAA, in the ongoing Global Air Navigation Conference  in Montreal Canada.

 

Other countries that were recognised for award by the ICAO Council President are Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Costa Rica, Finland, Jordan, Kuwait & Portuguese. The ICAO Council Award recognises significant progress made in resolving safety oversight deficiencies and improving the effective implementation of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practises (SARPs).

 

The award are issued once each calendar year in recognition of states which has made tremendous improvements in the regulation of civil aviation and effective implementation of International Standards

 

The President of ICAO will then present the official award to the President of United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli in Tanzania in the near future.
